Scope

The specification that defines what a sustainable aviation fuel is. Each approved production pathway gets its own annex with its own maximum blend ratio into conventional jet fuel. Once blended and re-certified against ASTM D1655, the product is handled as conventional jet fuel with no separate infrastructure. Note that the HEFA pathway in Annex A2 is essentially the same hydrotreatment chemistry as HVO for diesel, applied to a kerosene cut.

Blend limits are set by the fuel specification, not by the blend's measured properties. A blend at or below these ratios is re-certified against the conventional jet fuel specification and handled as a drop-in fuel.
