The IRGR Ammonia Engine Project was officially launched at the National University of Singapore, marking an important milestone for Singapore's efforts to understand and deploy ammonia as a green marine fuel.
Led by the NUS Centre for Hydrogen Innovations (CHI) and hosted at the NUS College of Design and Engineering, the project aims to accelerate the decarbonisation of global shipping through the development of next-generation ammonia-fuelled marine engines with high efficiency and near-zero emissions.
Funded by the Singapore Maritime Institute (SMI), the project is an industry–academia consortium bringing together Daihatsu, the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), Keppel, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), and several leading universities and research institutes.
3Y Energy will serve as a committed industrial partner in the project, contributing its expertise in green fuel R&D, and will support the consortium as the work progresses toward successful ignition and real-world deployment.
